Micron DDR4It is the fourth generation Double Data Rate Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory (SDRAM) produced by Micron Technology. Compared to DDR3 memory, DDR4 memory has been improved and optimized in multiple aspects:
Higher data transfer rate: Each pin of DDR4 memory can provide 2Gbps (256MB/s) bandwidth, for example, the bandwidth of DDR4-3200 can reach 51.2GB/s, which is more than 70% higher than DDR3-1866.
Larger Capacity: DDR4 memory supports higher single line capacity, up to 128GB, thanks to 3DS (3D Stacking) technology, which allows stacking within a single chip, thereby increasing capacity.
Lower power consumption: The operating voltage of DDR4 memory is reduced to 1.2V, further reducing energy consumption compared to DDR3's 1.5V. DDR4 also uses technologies such as TCSE (temperature compensated self refresh) to reduce power consumption.
More advanced signal integrity technology: DDR4 introduces an updated version of ODT (On Die Termination), including RTT_PARK state, providing new resistance selection to optimize signal integrity and system performance.
Wider operating temperature range: DDR4 memory supports a wider operating temperature range, from 0 ℃ to 85 ℃, and even extends to -40 ℃ to 95 ℃, suitable for a wider range of application scenarios.
Smaller packaging size: DDR4 memory adopts smaller packaging technology, such as ULP (Ultra Compact Specification), which is suitable for embedded systems with limited space.
Compatibility: DDR4 memory is compatible with next-generation processor platforms, such as Intel's Haswell EP Xeon E5-2600 v3 server platform.
ECC support: DDR4 memory supports error correction codes (ECC), providing higher data integrity and reliability, suitable for applications such as servers and workstations that require high data security.
These features significantly improve the performance, energy efficiency, and reliability of DDR4, making it suitable for high-performance computing and data intensive applications.
